Ruler of Kyiv-Rus from 980 to 1015.  Introduced Christianity in 988. Ruler of Kyiv-Rus from 1036 to 1054.  Built St. Sophia Cathedral in 1037.  Cossack Hetman from 1648 to 1657.  Leader of the 1648 Great Revolt.

Cossack Hetman from 1687 to 1709.  Revolted against Czar Peter 1 in 1708.  Ukraine's greatest poet.  In 1840 his collection of poems entitled Kobzar was published.  Author of History of Ukraine-Rus.  Elected President of Central Rada in 1917.
